Happy Mother’s Day

From Graeme Montgomery’s Mysore Style.

Apart from being a picture of someone I know (Michele is one of my yoga teachers, if I may flog the yoga dog two posts in a row), this photo says something I can’t.

It is ALL ABOUT how he is hugging her. There’s no faking a child’s love for a good mommy.

    Don’t I wish!

I want a life-sized print of that picture. It makes my skin crawl in the best sort of way.

(It also makes me want to Tin Drum my kid so that she stays tiny forever.)

    Happy Mother’s Day!

For a moment, I thought “Fussy has a different nose!”.

    Happy Mother’s day, you.

  7. Oh, thank you for that. You’re so right. Today, I was giving my daughter a bath; I cupped her shining, laughing heartbreakingly beautiful little face in my hands and said ‘Do you know why I get to celebrate today? It’s because I became a mommy when God gave me you, out of all the little girls I could have had, you’re my girl’. She just laughed and went back to her bath, but I meant those words with all my heart.

What this photo says to me is that when one of my children wants a hug, I should stop what I’m doing and enjoy the moment. Thanks for the reminder. Happy Mother’s Day!
