NaBloPoMo

Okay: buttons! I decided to call it National Blog POSTING Month instead of WRITING month because let’s face it, a lot of what we do, to paraphrase Truman Capote, is closer to typing than the other thing. You know, deathless prose.

If you want to use one of these buttons, please upload it to your own server and link back to this url:

http://www.fussy.org/2006/10/nablowrimo.html
http://www.fussy.org/nablopomo.html
(The official NaBloPoMo page is under construction but should be up by this afternoon.)

If you don’t know what “upload to your own server” means then you probably don’t have one, but check with your blogging service to see if they’ll host the image for you. If you still don’t know what the hell I’m talking about, e-mail me.

Here’s the first style:

Jack thought that might be too aggressive or upsetting to some people, even though blogging with a gun to your head? Comedy platinum, people. However, in the event that the whole gun thing puts you off, I’ve provided some alternate “peaceful warrior” type badges:

I almost wrote “a post a day keeps the Ewoks away” because man, I don’t want those fuckers near me under ANY circumstance (I’m sorry, that is horribly 1985), but I think “Wookiees” is the funnier word, especially considering this.

So there you go. I seem to be starting early with the daily posting thing, so feel free to do likewise if the mood strikes.

Also: t-shirts? Is this getting totally out of hand?

(“Aut blog aut mori” is most likely incorrect Latin for “blog or die.”)

    Buttons?! Buttons?!

Now you’re really putting me under pressure.

Btw, we call my dad “Wookie” so, yeah, that’s not really gonna work for me.

Clone troopers? Fetts? Jar Jars? (ooo, yeah, Jar Jar Binks is one scary MF)

I mean, I don’t want to get *disowned* and all.

  2. Lynnster says:

The gun to the head ones are a freakin’ riot. Awesome!

  3. mathew says:

i sure george would love to see the yoda nablopomo shirts made up – as will his legal department

  4. Mrs. Chili says:

The guns? Maybe comedy platinum under other circumstances, but I’m still pretty freaked out over all the school shootings (http://teacherseducation.blogspot.com/2006/10/i-have-daughters.html and http://teacherseducation.blogspot.com/2006/10/more-musings-about-current-events.html), so I’m going to put myself in the Yoda camp.

I’ve posted your call to write on my blog. May I add the Yoda tee shirt design to the entry?

  5. Mom101 says:

I like the gun ones! I’ll take comedy over my delicate liberal anti-gun sensibilities any day.

Oh and I love my “writing well” shirt – only drawback is I have to wait another year to wear it. Unless you offer them in maternity…

  6. Kimblahg says:

oh man i can’t decide. yoda or gun, yoda or gun…
    (i’m totally in)

  7. Muad'Dib says:

Hey, nice site ya got. I’m going with yoda.

    :)
    Cheers!
    Gorthos

  8. I’ll buy a tshirt if I actually complete the task.

  9. regan says:

oh my. those are pretty fucking awesome. i’m adding one to my blog soon.

  10. margalit says:

Mine’s already buttoned down (pathetic pun, huh?) and I’d buy a t-shirt as long as it doesn’t have Yoda on it. I know I’m in the minority, but I can’t stand Star Wars. Do you think it might have to do with my son watching it every frigging weekend? You think?

  11. jenB says:

I WANT A YODA ONE (t-shirt)!!! any colour.

these are all great. i think i might use at least two, one yoda, one with the gun.

    YOU RULE! Mrs. Kennedy.

I was expecting a button like “Mrs. Kennedy is making me post everyday this month and I don’t want to be spanked”, but this is much much better.

  12. Schmutzie says:

I’m in! I’ve got your button and everything. Now I can pretend that I still accomplished something over November without having to put myself through a third failure at NaNoWriMo.

  13. Can we use the “Aut Blog Aut Mori” seal as a button, or is that against the rules?

  14. Sellout. I mean that as a compliment.

  15. I know, I’m a weirdo. But I’m not the only one. John Lennon said that.

Totally use the seal as a button if you want.

  16. clickmom says:

I want the shirt!! The shirt would fulfill me. And my girls get so much attention, they would happily break the “no advertising” rule for that shirt. But Puh-Leeeease make the shirts big (really big) so my girls can fit into them, I hate buying men’s shirts for the ladies, they are touchy about those things you know. Not into cross dressing.

  17. Greg says:

I don’t think anyone needs to see me posting every day, but I just wanted to put my vote of approval for both the idea itself and for GUNS. Fuck the muppet.

  18. Meg says:

I already post every day (sometimes twice, sometimes five times…) but I support it. Wholeheartedly.

  19. Norm says:

NaBloPoMo? POMO?!? *vreent vreent vreent* Pomo alert! Prepare to be Derrida’ed.

    (I couldn’t resist).

  20. Alyndabear says:

Oooh. I’m up for this. Although I already kind of do that, because I am bored and HAVE NO LIFE.

    The end. :)

  21. The Q says:

I am so for T-shirts. I love T-shirts with guns on them – this would make three! Maybe it’ll make me remember to post every day too?

  22. Antonia says:

I’m in. I’m too thick to work out how to link back properly to you, but I’ll find another Beta-Bloggerer to copy off.

I’ll have a newborn baby either by or in November, so my posts might be a bit sleep-deprived and poo-related, but I’m in.

Blimey, I will finally be a [gag] mommy-blogger. A Mo-Blo in NaBloPoMo. Yo.

  23. I’m in. Maybe it will motivate me to post each day. It’s a strain sometimes. LOL

  24. Dana says:

These buttons rock. I’ve got mine up, but my link to your page is not working, so I’ll have to work on it. When I put it in the sidebar, nothing else on the page shows up. Hmmmph. I’m gonna work on it! This Nablo WriMo will be great!

  25. I’m in. I’ve gone for the yoda, what can I say, with three boys Star Wars permeates my life in ways I never thought possible.

I’ve managed to upload the pic, but can’t get it to link back to this post. Any guidance for the technical idiot would be appreciated…

  26. Kelly says:

I’m in…great idea, and just the kind of motivation I need to get back to work on my blog. Poor, languishing piece of the interweb.

    http://herablehands.com

  27. Rachel says:

All linked up and ready to go!

I did choose the yoda. I think the gun’s funny, but it would be somewhat jarring with the very oceany, calm blog design.

totally petty question – I don’t see myself on the list of participants, but I might not have noticed ‘cos I’m wretched at scanning – would you like someone to reorg them alphabetically?

  28. Cate Ross says:

YES! I want to participate–I’m sure I can post daily better than I can write a novel in 30 days–given that I have a family that needs things like food, rides home from school…stuff that gets in the way of the writing.

Plus, I want your design talent. Blog or Die!

  29. Average Jane says:

I’m in! I don’t know what I’ll do while I’m in Jamaica for several days, but I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it.

  32. Yvo Sin says:

Count me in as a participant. On my blogger http://feistyfoodie.blogspot.com. This will be a tough month since I’m also participating in NaNoWriMo. Great idea.

  34. Kathryn says:

Love your blog – found it through Laid Off Dad. Am doing the WoMo thing but must have Yoda.

  35. Sherry says:

I debated doing NaNoWriMo this year because I have all these ideas. I ultimately decided not to because with a 4-year-old and an almost-one-year-old, I can’t even pee without an audience, let alone write a novel.

BUT, I can try this! I’m totally in! I’ll be participating from my blog Chaos Theory at http://andromeda.qc.ca

I love this idea! I would really like to participate, but is there any chance you have an alternate version of your NoBloPoMo home page that I could link to without the four letter words on it? Not gonna fly with my readers (a group that includes my dad and my very conservative former youth minister.)

If not, no worries. I’ll just enjoy vicariously. :D
