NaBloWriMo!

Okay, so I'm gearing up for National Novel Writing Month, a.k.a. NaNoWriMo, and because I want to overextend myself just that much more I am proposing that everyone commit themselves to NaBloWriMo -- that's right, National Blog Writing Month.

Let's all take the sometimes depressing month of November and post EVERY SINGLE DAY. Perhaps a brief meditation on Tim Allen's career trajectory, an inventory of things found under your bed, the top three things you hate about Sundays, the song that should burst out of loudspeakers every time you enter a room and why; you get the picture. Doesn't have to be earth-shattering. Just the joy of hitting "publish" every day.

And for those without blogs, your mission is simply to de-lurk. Comment on one blog every day. After all, there will be so much to comment on.

Participants, leave your name and url in the comments so we'll know where to find you.

Yeah! I will post about playing my banjo! Rah!

Failing that, I will tell you all something that made me laugh!

Failing that, I will discuss my oral hygiene regime!

Failing that, I will put on oven mitts, and smash my hands all over the keyboard, and hit "Publish"!

Come for the hilarity, come for the gibberish.

Ooh! I'm already doing something like this! Well, sort of. OK, not really. I called it NaBloPoWriMo, and I'm just going to try to do a bunch of posts in a short amount of time, not necessarily waiting until November. So, you know, not exactly the same thing. But still, close enough that I got excited at the idea of others doing the same sort of thing.

Anyway, good idea. The blogosphere could use a little rejuvenation these days.

Ironically I just wrote a post today about how, after trying to get back in the habit since the first of the year, I hadn't been very enthusiastic about it and I knew it showed.

I've been doing it since 1997 (albeit haphazardly the last several years) and, after nearly a decade, have just been feeling somewhat uninspired and unmotivated, like I've just lost the muse for it.

Maybe this challenge is the kick in the ass I need. Thanks for the push - I'm in.
