A Walk in the Woods

A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson

This time Bryson tackles the Appalachian Trail. Or, rather, doesn’t. Or, rather, the book tackles the subject of how bloody difficult and sometimes rewarding it is to attempt to walk 2,100 miles before you say to hell with it and go home. Funny, educational, and occasionally tragic — my favorite combination.

By far, the best travel-log I’ve ever read. I love Bryson. If you liked this, I highly recommend “A Short History of Nearly Everything” – the first of his books that I read.
