“Let’s watch Jungle Book.”

“I don’t want to watch Jungle Book, it’s dumb.”

“No, it’s not, it’s fucking brilliant and we’re going to watch it.”

Pouting. Then embarrassment, then complete transfixion. Eventually he put on the big boots so he could dance along with the king of the swingers, King Louie, the jungle V.I.P. (Here’s a link to a great clip of that scene and some background on the hep cats behind it.)

  • I’m gonna be 34 soon and I asked for The Jungle Book DVD precisely so I can dance along with the jungle VIP.

  • This is fantastic.

  • Why don’t kids understand what is good?

  • the boots and the idea of him dancing to the jungle vip are just great. Glad he was won over, I love to watch that movie, and the songs are so great. Our vhs copy has a short film on the way that the voice talent influenced the art. The best part shows the recording of vip- he totally dances like the king : )

  • That is awesome. I’d want to see the rest of the documentary! Was that Wolfgang Reitherman at the beginning (or was that Richard Sherman)?

My mom tells me that’s the first movie I ever saw in a theater. One of my all time faves.

  • Louis Prima, man. Get his greatest hits, our kids love it. Well, our little kids. The teenage son isn’t to into it. Anymore.

  • I love that scene, even though my ex used to compare me to Baloo when I danced. Which is yet another reason he’s my ex.

  • I hate it when they start to try and pick their own movies.
