National Blog Posting Month, Day 12

Spent the day catching up on NaBlo business. Am considering it a success that I only have 431 Blo-related e-mails left to read.

So let’s talk about shoes!

florsheim wingtips

Bought these Florsheim wingtips at Salvation Army sometime around 1994 for $3.00. Resoling them cost $27.

They fit me perfectly.

Met Jack in 1995. Wore them on a date. Jack claimed that they used to be his, that they had no longer fit him so he gave them to the Sally. News greeted skeptically, as they were fully two sizes too small for him, but he insisted.

So I guess I bought Jack’s old wingtips at a thrift store, and then I married him.

The end.

That’s very O.Henry, sort of, especially if you used to have long hair that you cut to get the shoes. Or something like that.

  2. witchypoo says:

    lol deb!
Those shoes, those shoes rather frighten me.

  3. saraarts says:

    Beautiful shoes. :)

  4. daysgoby says:

So did he give a blood-curdling shriek and point his finger, declaring This woman has my shoes? Or was he more subtle, casting side glances at your feet all night?

  5. Priceless! If the shoe fits…

  6. The Wine Guy says:

Those are hot. I can see them paired with man slacks and a crisp fem shirt tailored just right.

  7. sheepbombs says:

I find it really disturbing when people start remembering fake memories. My friend used to do that a lot whever he took magic mushrooms.

  8. I wish I were not so lazy
I would take that golden nugget and write a lovely story

  10. Suzy says:

I think it’s time for a Fussy Shoe Calendar.

  11. Mischa says:

What a great story! Those shoes are awesome, by the way. I think I need a pair. But not your husband’s pair.

  12. Ooh, a calendar!

I can’t remember the last time I wore these but they work best with ankle-length pants, to show them off.

  13. Tracie says:

I own three pairs of shoes – one for work, one for exercise, one “good” pair. I am fascinated that there are people who not only have many many more pairs of shoes than I have, but that each pair has a story to go along with them. Me – Went to Payless, bought some shoes, the end

No way. I think he should provide proof somehow. Because if that is true, that is amazingly fantastic (hell, it’s fantastic anyhow…and now that I think of it, that’s one good come on line). So does this make you sole mates? Does this mean when you argue you can go take a walk for a mile in his shoes and all that?
