National Blog Posting Month, Day 14

I love Wednesdays and do you want to know why I love Wednesdays? Because one set of parents at Jackson’s school has an adopted Chinese daughter and they are paying a teacher of Mandarin Chinese to arrive after school once a week and teach Mandarin Chinese to any kid who wants to sit still for another forty-five minutes.

Thanks to fifteen minutes of snack time that means today I have an extra HOUR to whittle down the e-mail, naked, because who turned the sun up to BROIL? It is officially eleventy-thousand degrees here. Last week, nothing but gray skies and fleece; this week, bikini weather. November in California. I think Peanut’s getting ready to shed his shell.

orange peep toes

Orange patent leather peep-toe Steve Maddens bought at Nordstrom Rack for $10 last spring, and the cause of my barefoot escapade down 14th Street. Normally I would not wear shoes with bows on them, since I am not seven years old, but they are ORANGE SHOES and they are SIZE 11 and they make me look like a girl, for once, la di dah.

  1. Vallen says:

How do you get size 11 to look so small? That’s a trick I’d like to learn.

  2. Well, don’t put another object in the photo for scale, first of all. If I put a quarter next to these it would look like the head of a pin.

  3. Me. says:

you wear size 11? how awsome! Best place to get shoes is http://www.designershoes.com I adore them. They cater to hard to find larger sizes and have some great deals closer to the holidays.

  4. Meegan says:

Sheesh. I didn’t know you were a fellow big-foot. You look so teeny in your photos, I wouldn’t imagine a pair of gunboats are part of your anatomy. Now I appreciate your shoe photos that much more. And I totally feel your pain. When I was in high school I wore an 8. FF through college where I only wore hiking books or Birkenstocks and I made my way into a 9 1/2. Post-pregnancy I’m up to a 10 1/2. And I’ve only had one child. More to come, God willing. Yeah, that’s probably more than you needed to know. I’m done now.

  5. These are very sweet! I could never pull them off, though. I’m not that sweet.

  6. Those shoes are great. Did you wear them during your naked emailing adventure?

  7. Holy shit, another size 11? Thank god, I was feeling lonely. Plus now I have ideas for ginormous shoes, instead of my usual crying at the shoe store because they don’t stock my size routine.

  8. Jenn says:

    Another Sasquatch checking in. (Holla!)

  9. Delurking because SIZE 11! Me too! Look how many of us! Hooray!

  10. witchypoo says:

One more bigfoot in the mess.
    That would be me.
    Those shoes are totally cute.
Not walking in New York smart though. Ya gots to have the sneakers for that.

  11. It appears to me that it only be appropriate that a blog titled “Fussy” should have snaps of orange shoes with bows on them. Maybe. Perhaps.

  12. Eek!

I meant to include some sort of emoticon that would convey the thought that I was attempting some sort of “wry” or “contemplative”.

  13. jenny t says:

yay for fellow sz 11 ladies!!! love the fantastic shoes :)

  14. daysgoby says:

No longer feeling like I have to hide my feet…

    Your shoes are so cute!

  18. daysgoby says:

I’m sorry! It’s late and I hate it when the computer doesn’t go fast enough, and so I punch buttons, and now I look like I’m stalking your feet or something.

  19. Ginny says:

I’m only a 9. Suddenly I feel like a delicate flower. In my shitkickers.

  20. Janet says:

    8 people. Kapow.

  21. Antonia says:

Naked Blogging! Yes! And I thought the Na in NaBloPoMo was short for National. Naked blogging for November: there’s a challenge. Brrr.

I owe you an apology for not participating in NaBlo this year. Mine could do with a kick up the arse: it’s become more NoBlo. November sneaked up on me and as it turns out, it was easier to post every day with a newborn under my arm than a one-year-old tugging at my sleeve.

I suppose if I was doing naked blogging all month, I wouldn’t have sleeves to tug. I should have thought of that.

  22. Katy Seib says:

OK I was sure you had to be at least a size 7 or less. All your shoes are pointy. My size 11 flippers could never ever squeeze into pointy shoes – it’s a conundrum of physics. I have to wear rectangles on my feet. If they were wide enough for my foot and still pointy they’d be clown shoes arriving places full minutes before the rest of me.

Big flippers unite: all your shoes are belong to us!

  23. A ‘petite’ size 10 weighing in, then. ;-)

Orange patent? Fussy, I think I love you.

  24. The Wine Guy says:

I am a 9, how come all the shoes left for clearance are size 6??

  25. Aimee says:

Holy Wow! that’s alot of size 11s here. You share a shoe size with Paris Hilton, you know this right?

Also, those shoes are FAB U LOUS. Seriously. Bow or no bow.

  26. Sadie says:

I am so excited to see aI am not the only Big Foot!

  27. Rebecca says:

I’m so glad I’m not alone in wearing size 11. I’ve always been told that they are the first to go in stores. If that’s true, why not order MORE of them instead of 2 pair for the entire shopping public?
Also, those shoes are way cute.

  28. SE says:

After a couple of painful and unpleasant experiences, I REFUSE to buy any Steve Madden shoes, regardless of how cute they are-and a lot of them are super cute!- but they suck. Aldo shoes also suck.

Both are just very stiff and cardboard-y and not worth it.

  29. Siri says:

    Pretty Pretty shoes :)

  30. All Adither says:

    I’m almost six-three and I wear a 10. But I do fall down a lot. And that’s a sight.

  31. sac says:

I don’t believe the naked part, so obviously I need proof.

  32. saraarts says:

They are beautiful, and they look reasonably comfortable, and they were only $10. Of *course* you should have them. Good grief. How could you ever not, especially under the circumstances?

I’ve been wondering what the little Peanut has been up to lately. Any great staircase or similar adventures to report?

  33. Vallen says:

Still and all, they look pretty darn dainty.

  34. Refinnej says:

I can’t believe how many 11s there are out there! I thought I was all alone in my huge-footedness. Great shoes.

  35. cce says:

Those of us who wear a standard size 8 are usually SOL at the sale rack. No Steve Madden at $10 for me so I’ll just admire yours.

  36. C says:

I believe in shoes with bows. There’s a lady at my job who is (at least) 70 and she believes this too except she believes it’s okay with socks – I wouldn’t go that far.

Also, please send the east coast some sunshine. We’re freezing over here and I’m sad about it.
