My mom’s ancient waffle iron. She used to make her waffles from a recipe in the Better Homes & Gardens Cookbook and I don’t know how to describe them except that they were somehow rubbery and fluffy at the same time.

Sometimes we’d have them for dinner with Aunt Jemima syrup and Spam.

Oh, no! We’re getting arty here!

  • Was it the O Boy Waffle recipe in BHG? I have never found a better waffle recipe than that. I loved your photo yesterday of all the BHG cookbooks lined up. That reminded me of my grandma’s house.

  • you could totally sell that on eBay.

  • I love the pics! And I bet the waffles were awesome.

  • Eden, this post really hit me. First, b/c I covet that damn waffle iron – very cool and also b/c I had a similar converstaion with my grandma recently. Choices weren’t something they really put a lot of thought into.

Not sure about you, but it makes me want to try to do/go/experience everything my little pea-brain has ever put thought to.

    Great post.
